Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia also grew faster than China in Q2 2026.

VIETNAM RECORDED THE HIGHEST GROWTH IN THE GROUP

According to the infographic, Vietnam’s real GDP grew by around 8% year-on-year in Q2 2026.

Malaysia and Singapore followed with growth of around 6%. Indonesia recorded growth of around 5%.

The Philippines and Thailand both grew by around 2%.

This means four of the six Southeast Asian economies shown — Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia — grew faster than China’s roughly 4%.

DIFFERENT GROWTH RATES ACROSS SOUTHEAST ASIA

The infographic shows a clear difference in growth rates among the six economies:

Vietnam: around 8%
Malaysia: around 6%
Singapore: around 6%
Indonesia: around 5%
Philippines: around 2%
Thailand: around 2%

Vietnam’s growth rate was therefore about twice the roughly 4% rate shown for China.

VIETNAM MAINTAINED STRONG ECONOMIC GROWTH

The Q2 2026 figures show that Vietnam maintained a high growth rate compared with the other Southeast Asian economies in the infographic.

At around 8%, Vietnam was ahead of Malaysia and Singapore at around 6%, Indonesia at around 5%, and the Philippines and Thailand at around 2%.

However, one quarter does not show the full picture of an economy. Other factors such as manufacturing, consumption, exports, investment and full-year GDP growth are also important.
