Vietnam tourism development goals for 2030 and 2045

Vietnam's tourism industry is heading toward major breakthroughs with a clear strategic development roadmap. Specific targets highlight the growing economic and global standing of the country.

Strategic Tourism Development Goals for 2030

By 2030, Vietnam's tourism sector aims to contribute 10 to 12 percent of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP). In terms of visitor volume, the country targets 45 to 50 million international arrivals and approximately 160 million domestic tourists.

Additionally, Vietnam strives to rank among Southeast Asia's leading destinations in tourism scale and growth. Achievements during the 2021-2025 period, featuring a GDP contribution of 6 to 8 percent annually and nearly 21.2 million international visitors in 2025, serve as a solid foundation to achieve these goals.

Long-term Vision and Spillover Effects for 2045

Looking toward the 2045 vision, tourism is expected to contribute 14 to 15 percent of the GDP. Vietnam aims to rank among the world's 30 most competitive tourism economies.

International visitor arrivals are projected to reach 70 million. This robust growth will create deep spillover effects, driving development across related sectors such as transport, accommodation, food services, and retail.
